About Beacon Litworks: Writing Workshops
One aspect of the BLF mission is to partner with arts organizations and our community of writers to offer inspiring educational writing programs for the public with a strong focus on diversity and quality. Our new partner program is entitled "Beacon Litworks: Writing Workshops" and we plan a full day of professionally-led writing workshops taught by members of the Beacon community.
Five separate writing intensives, to be held on June 15, 2025, will directly follow the main Litfest (June 12, 13, 14) and serve to launch additional educational workshops throughout the year. More info to come!
During the June 15 workshops, participants will explore the process of writing, publishing, and distributing their work. Our goal is to include a variety of instructors across a wide array of genres; the Jun 15 program will feature a number of compelling workshops on fiction, memoir, poetry, journalism and even how to tell a story in song. Utilizing classical and modern passages and their own published works instructors will illustrate concepts of literary professionalism, explore the evolution of written work, and guide writing exercises that allow participants to explore and fine tune their own writing. The workshops will be offered at affordable prices, with 10% of seats reserved for those unable to cover the costs. These workshops will be located throughout the city of Beacon, and will also help highlight and support local venues.
Beacon is a vibrant and walkable city with a charming and historic Main Street bustling with activity and surrounded by natural beauty. It is a home to many notable writers and poets and is supported by a community that prides itself on its diversity and engagement.
